the children actually act like children with a rich grandfather in the beginning of this book (begging him to buy a lighthouse). read the eighth book in the boxcar children series, called "the lighthouse mystery". i love the message it sends, i like how the children still work together to make life better for the people around them. it is the same summer and as the family is driving home from a visit to nearby aunt jane's new home, they decide to stop at the beach where they find a lighthouse for sale. discovering the lighthouse was for sale, the group inquires into temporarily renting it, which they do. the family drives by a lighthouse for sale, and the kids ask grandfather to buy it as if it's no big deal! the kids move into a lighthouse, someone is sneaking around and being suspicious. favorite part was when the mystery was solved and the boy could go to college like he wanted.
